    PLACE
    Atlantic edge
Getxo sits just outside Bilbao along the Basque coast, where marinas, promenades and historic villas line the shoreline. From the palace, the city is close — the Guggenheim, Bilbao’s food scene and the old town’s pintxo bars all within easy reach — yet the position above the harbour creates a sense of remove. The Atlantic shapes the atmosphere, with a steady, open horizon that anchors everything.
    DESIGN
    Heritage and horizon
The palace reflects the life it was built for — a 20th-century seaside residence shaped by an aristocratic, British-influenced style. Original proportions remain, with high ceilings, wide windows and sea-facing rooms preserving a sense of stature. A contemporary layer of art and colour runs throughout, with influences from William Morris to Art Deco and works by modern artists integrated into the space.
    FOOD
    Basque depth
Dining draws on one of Europe’s strongest culinary traditions. Seasonal Basque produce shapes menus that reflect both sea and land — seafood from the Bay of Biscay alongside vegetables, meats and cheeses from the surrounding countryside. The approach is grounded and ingredient-led, with a strong sense of place running through each dish.
    SPA
    Contemporary sanctuary
The spa draws on the legacy of the original Neguri spa, once a social hub for Bilbao’s residents, now reimagined within the palace as a calm, contemporary space. There’s a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and hammam, alongside treatment rooms offering personalised therapies with an emphasis on skin radiance. A gym supports more active routines, while the overall atmosphere remains quiet and restorative.
    Sleep
    Rooms & Suites

Forty-nine rooms and suites are set across the restored palace, newer wings and the garden pergola, each with its own character. Many face the Atlantic or overlook Getxo’s marina, keeping the sea in view throughout the stay. Interiors are calm and refined, shaped by light, colour and carefully placed artworks. As evening settles, the coastline quiets and the horizon fades into the open Atlantic.
