Overview

Set in the rural heart of Menorca, Menorca Experimental occupies a restored 19th-century finca surrounded by vineyards, orchards and dry-stone walls. The setting feels open and sunlit, offering a quieter perspective on the island. Interiors bring a playful, design-led energy to the historic bones, inspired by the idea of an artist’s retreat, with colour and pattern flowing through courtyards, terraces and dining spaces. Days move easily between the pool, shaded corners and nearby coves, before gathering at the bar as evening settles in.

    DESIGN
    Mediterranean reinterpretation
Interiors by Dorothée Meilichzon rework traditional finca architecture with a light, contemporary touch. Curved headboards, painted ceilings and geometric tiles draw on Mediterranean craft, while terracotta, citrus tones and soft blues reflect the landscape beyond the walls. Woven textiles and natural materials keep everything grounded, with spaces flowing easily between courtyard, bar and dining areas.
    TABLE
    Mediterranean cooking
The restaurant centres on seasonal Menorcan produce, much of it grown on the estate. Vegetables, seafood and olive oil shape the menus, with sharing plates and simply prepared fish as highlights. Lunches stretch easily on the terrace — something fresh after a swim — while evenings move from aperitivo into dinner under the stars. Cocktails are a draw in their own right, with a menu built around local ingredients alongside Experimental classics, often enjoyed poolside or as the day turns.
    LAND
    Inland Menorca
Being inland changes the pace of the island. Mornings begin with open fields, vineyards and dry-stone walls, with a sense of space that feels removed from the coast. The southern calas are still within easy reach, but the finca itself stays calm and settled. Light lingers across the countryside, and evenings cool gradually as the sun drops behind the hills.
    WELLNESS
    Restorative pause
A large outdoor pool anchors the estate, set within open countryside and surrounded by terraces made for long afternoons in the sun. The spa sits quietly within the grounds, with three treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna, offering bespoke treatments tailored to each guest. Partnerships with brands such as Biologique Recherche, Nüssa and Alex Carro bring a more considered, results-led approach, with yoga also available to support a slower start to the day.
    YOGA
    Gentle sessions
Yoga and Pilates are offered throughout the season, with classes held in a dedicated studio within the finca or outdoors when the weather allows. Sessions span Hatha, Vinyasa and slower-paced practices, alongside Pilates focused on strength and control. Open to all levels, they sit naturally within the day — a gentle way to start the morning or reset after time in the sun.
    Sleep
    Rooms & Suites

Bedrooms combine rustic materials with a softer, contemporary finish — drystone walls, waxed concrete and local wood floors offset by hand-glazed terracotta tiles and rounded forms. The palette stays calm and easy, in keeping with the landscape. Many rooms look out across gardens or vineyard rows, with views that open out onto the surrounding countryside.
