Overview

High above the village of Valldemossa, in the folds of the Serra de Tramuntana, Hotel Valldemossa occupies a former 19th-century royal residence once used as a hunting lodge. With just twelve rooms, it feels like a refined country house. From its elevated position, terraced gardens step down toward the village rooftops below, with mountain ridgelines framing the horizon. In this secluded setting, food, spa and time outdoors shape the stay. It suits couples drawn to intimacy, mountain light and a slower way of being in Mallorca.

    Hilltop
    Elevated perspective

The position defines the stay. From the gardens and many rooms, views sweep across Valldemossa’s rooftops and out into the Tramuntana mountains. The height brings a sense of seclusion, while still feeling connected to the village below. A short walk leads down into Valldemossa’s cobbled streets, small cafés and galleries. Light shifts quickly here, especially toward evening, when the mountains darken and the sky holds its brightness a little longer.

    TABLE
    Nikkei influence

Dining at De Tokio a Lima brings a more contemporary note to the setting. Mediterranean ingredients are combined with Japanese-Peruvian influences, with chefs Germán Bernardi and Ricardo Rossi shaping a menu that feels precise but relaxed. Dishes lean into clean flavours and subtle contrasts — seafood, citrus, light textures — with a few familiar touches alongside more unexpected combinations. Tables on the terrace look out toward the mountains, and dinner unfolds at an unhurried pace as the light fades.

    SPA
    A quieter layer

The spa adds a deeper wellness layer to the stay. Treatments draw on a mix of traditional practices — Thai and Ayurvedic bodywork, reflexology and craniosacral therapy — alongside more advanced facial techniques. Spaces open out to terraces and the surrounding landscape, keeping a strong connection to the outside. For those looking to go further, structured programmes bring treatments together into more focused, restorative experiences.

    MOVEMENT
    Outdoors, always

Movement is gentle and mostly outdoors. Yoga sessions take place in the open air, often with the mountains as a backdrop, alongside time for walking in the surrounding hills. Cycling is also a natural way to explore the area, with routes through the Tramuntana easily accessible from the hotel. Bike hire, guided rides and on-site support, including storage and basic repair facilities, can all be arranged.

    Sleep
    Rooms & Suites

Rooms are individually styled, blending exposed beams, warm stone and soft linen with carefully chosen design pieces and artwork. You might find mid-century furniture, including pieces inspired by Le Corbusier, alongside local work, giving each space its own feel without losing a sense of calm. Many rooms open onto terraces with views across the mountains or village below, reinforcing the sense of elevation.
