Overview

In the quiet Puigpunyent valley at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, Grand Hotel Son Net occupies a restored 17th-century Mallorcan estate, its distinctive pink façade set behind a cypress-lined drive. Olive groves, mountain slopes and cultivated gardens surround the property, creating a sense of seclusion while remaining just twenty minutes from Palma. Historic stone, artworks, vaulted ceilings and shuttered windows remain central to its identity. Children aged twelve and over are welcome, though the atmosphere remains largely adult in tone — best suited to couples and culturally curious travellers drawn to art, heritage and the quiet romance of the valley.

    Gardens & Pool
    Cypress and olive

The gardens are an integral part of the estate, shaped by centuries of cultivation and careful restoration. A long, 30-metre pool sits at their centre, aligned to frame the valley beyond. Olive and cypress trees create structure and shade, with paths and terraces set among planting that feels both established and quietly maintained. At the entrance, ancient hackberry trees — once a place of gathering — anchor the space in its past. It’s a garden with presence, where time is felt as much as seen.

    Table
    Gastronómico

Dining centres on Gastronómico, the hotel’s vaulted restaurant overlooking the gardens and valley. The kitchen follows a modern Mediterranean approach, built around seasonal produce from Mallorca’s farms and coastline. Cooking remains refined but unfussy — light, ingredient-led dishes. Dinner often moves out onto the terrace as the air cools and the light fades across the mountains, with a calm, unhurried atmosphere that reflects the estate.

    Spa
    Garden-level calm

The spa is calm, well-equipped space. Alongside the hammam and sauna, a heated indoor pool treated with sea salt sits at the centre, complemented by a Japanese bath and ice fountain for contrast. Treatments focus on relaxation and restorative care, with massage and bodywork suited to recovery after time outdoors. A small fitness area and yoga sessions complete the offering. The spa feels in keeping with the house — quiet, considered and shaped by the same sense of history.

    Place
    Puigpunyent valley

The Puigpunyent valley is a quiet gateway into the Serra de Tramuntana. Surrounding hills are dotted with historic estates and olive terraces, while narrow roads wind towards small mountain villages such as Galilea, one of the island’s highest settlements with views toward the sea. Nearby is La Granja de Esporles, along with access to the wider Tramuntana landscape of terraces and mountain paths. Palma’s galleries, markets and restaurants remain just twenty minutes away.

    Sleep
    Rooms & Suites

Rooms and suites reflect the layered history of the estate. Some retain antique four-poster beds and exposed timber beams; others lean towards a more contemporary feel. All are generous in proportion, with views across gardens, olive groves or mountain slopes. Natural materials and warm tones allow the architecture and valley light to take precedence.
