PLACE
Between pines and sea

Formentor occupies Mallorca's dramatic northern peninsula, where limestone mountains fall into intensely blue water and pine forest reaches almost to the shore. The resort's vast private estate gives you direct access to walking and cycling trails, while the beach opens up another world of swimming, sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Take a boat and secluded coves inaccessible by road become part of the day.

WELLBEING
Let nature do some of the work

Wellbeing here extends far beyond the spa. Start with yoga overlooking the sea, follow pine-scented trails on a mindful walk or swim before breakfast, then retreat to the spa for its vitality pool, sauna, steam room and cold plunge. Treatments draw inspiration from the estate's indigenous plants, while private Pilates, meditation and personal training allow you to go deeper. The prevailing philosophy is simple: movement, nature and recovery belong together.

TABLE
From Mallorca, with a view

Eating well here tends to come with sea air. Mel celebrates Mallorca and the Mediterranean with seasonal produce and local ingredients; beachfront Llum i Sal keeps things coastal with seafood and island flavours, while Shima brings Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei cooking to a spectacular sea-facing terrace. There are vineyard dinners, garden picnics and cocktails at Cercle too, with enough variety to make staying put for dinner feel like the obvious choice.

Seaside sophistication
SLEEP

Gilles & Boissier have given the hotel's 110 rooms and suites a light, contemporary elegance that nods to Formentor's glamorous past without trying to recreate it. Natural materials, soft Mediterranean tones and beautifully considered details keep the mood relaxed, while every room and suite opens onto its own sea-facing terrace. Some add private plunge pools, but with views like these, the terrace itself may be the feature you remember most.
