Overview

Fontenille Menorca unfolds across two restored 18th-century fincas — Santa Ponsa and Torre Vella — set within a 300-hectare agricultural estate near Alaior in central Menorca. Rather than a single hotel, it feels like two quiet houses connected by land, with olive groves, orchards and open fields stretching towards the Mediterranean. The fincas sit a short distance apart, encouraging guests to move between them for dining, swimming and sunset views. Santa Ponsa forms the historic centre, with sheltered courtyards and vaulted interiors, while Torre Vella sits slightly higher, opening out to wider views and glimpses of the sea.

    Estate
    Land and agriculture

The property spans roughly 300 hectares, making it one of the largest private estates on Menorca. Olive groves, almond trees, vegetable gardens and open pasture shape the landscape around the fincas, with walking paths threading through the land. The scale brings a rare sense of quiet, with space to move without ever needing to leave the estate.

    Table
    Le Naranjo

Dining centres on Le Naranjo, where seasonal menus follow the land and the surrounding island. Produce from the gardens appears alongside ingredients sourced from Menorcan farmers and fishermen. The cooking reflects Fontenille’s style — Mediterranean ingredients handled with a light, restrained touch. Meals unfold slowly, from breakfasts among citrus trees to dinners on terraces overlooking fields and the evening light.

    Wellness
    Quiet water

Each finca has its own outdoor pool, positioned to frame the surrounding landscape. One sits within the enclosed gardens of Santa Ponsa; the other opens out to wider countryside views at Torre Vella. The wellness offering remains intentionally modest, with massage treatments, a small indoor spa and occasional outdoor yoga.

    Place
    Central Menorca

The estate lies inland near Alaior, one of Menorca’s traditional agricultural towns. This part of the island is known for dairy farms and Mahón-Menorca cheese, one of Spain’s protected regional specialities. Nearby sits Torre d’en Galmés, the island’s largest Talayotic archaeological site. The southern coastline is within easy reach, with coves such as Cala Mitjana, Cala Macarella and Cala Turqueta, as well as sections of the Camí de Cavalls coastal path.

    Sleep
    Rooms & Suites

Rooms across both fincas are calm and understated. Limestone walls, soft linens and natural textures echo the surrounding landscape. Suites at Torre Vella open out to broader views, while rooms at Santa Ponsa feel more enclosed within courtyards and gardens. With minimal light pollution, nights are dark and sleep comes easily.
