Overview

Set within more than 200 hectares of protected landscape in the Serra de Llevant, Es Racó d’Artà is a restored 13th-century Mallorcan estate shaped by land, light and quiet. Architect Toni Esteva has allowed the original stone buildings and proportions to guide the transformation, creating a place that feels closely tied to its surroundings. Adults-only and deliberately small in scale, the estate unfolds between the main house and scattered casitas across the hillside. Meditation, yoga, water-based therapies and seasonal food are all part of the stay — best suited to those drawn to nature, stillness and a more immersive way of slowing down.

Estate
Two hundred hectares of Mallorca

The scale of the estate allows for long, uninterrupted walks. Paths wind through wild olive and carob groves, across old stone terraces and low hills at the edge of the Serra de Llevant Natural Park. This part of Mallorca feels notably untamed — dry woodland, fig trees and scrubland stretching towards the coast. It’s a landscape that feels expansive, textured and unhurried.

Sanum per aquam
Healing through water

The spa follows the principle of Sanum Per Aquam — health through water. A large stone-lined indoor pool sits at the centre, its surface catching soft natural light from above. Hammam, sauna and heat rooms are set quietly within the surrounding architecture, built from the same lime, timber and local stone as the rest of the estate. A separate warm-water pool is reserved for Watsu, the spa’s signature therapy, where guided movement and buoyancy calm the nervous system in a way that feels subtle but deeply affecting.

Moment & Meditation
Breath, craft and the land

Days move between body, landscape and creative practice. Mornings begin with meditation or yoga, centred on grounding and breath. Beyond the shala, guided walks cross the estate, drawing attention to the landscape — herbs underfoot, dry stone terraces and shifting light across the hills. Craft workshops form another part of the experience, with basket weaving, ceramics and other tactile practices rooted in Mallorca’s rural culture. Nothing feels imposed; you take part where it feels natural.

Table
Farm-led and seasonal

Cooking at Es Racó follows the land. Much of the produce comes from the estate’s own organic gardens and orchard, supported by nearby farms across the Serra de Llevant. The kitchen is largely plant-based, built around Mediterranean ingredients — vegetables, herbs, grains and olive oil — simply prepared to let the ingredients speak. Menus shift with the seasons and the harvest.

Design
Toni Esteva’s Art of Reduction

The architecture is the work of Mallorcan architect Toni Esteva, whose approach is based on reduction — a restrained minimalism that allows the landscape to take the lead. Traditional elements such as vaulted ceilings, dry-stone walls and shaded courtyards remain intact, while new buildings follow the same materials and geometry. Stone, lime and timber shape the interiors, with light and proportion doing much of the work. The result feels both ancient and quietly contemporary.

Sleep
Rooms & Casitas

Rooms are set between the main house and scattered casitas, reinforcing a sense of privacy across the estate. Many open onto garden terraces, while others sit within thick stone walls that hold cool air and quiet. Interiors follow Esteva’s approach — lime-plastered walls, linen, natural wood and stone floors creating a calm, tactile feel. Bathrooms continue the same restrained palette. Nights are dark and still.
