Castiglion del Bosco has a quiet way of recalibrating what feels important. Days revolve around simple pleasures that somehow feel richer here than anywhere else: walking through the vineyards before breakfast, lingering over lunch, sharing a bottle of Brunello as evening settles across the Val d'Orcia. There is no grand lesson waiting for you. Just a gentle reminder that a life filled with good food, meaningful conversation, time outdoors and beautiful surroundings may be closer to enough than we often allow ourselves to believe.
At the centre of the estate lies a beautifully restored medieval borgo, surrounded by vineyards, forests, olive groves and open countryside stretching across the Val d'Orcia. Whether walking, cycling or simply taking in the views, you can happily spend days exploring without ever feeling the need to rush anywhere else.
Wine is part of everyday life here. As one of the founding estates of Brunello di Montalcino, Castiglion del Bosco offers the rare chance to enjoy its wines where they are grown, alongside seasonal Tuscan dishes made with produce from the estate and nearby farms. Long lunches and lingering dinners are a natural part of the day.
There is no perfect way to spend a day here, and that is part of the appeal. You might begin with a walk through the vineyards, unwind at the Sense® Spa, take a cooking class, enjoy a round of golf or simply settle into a quiet corner with a book. Whatever you choose, the estate encourages you to slow down and enjoy it fully.
Rooms, suites and private villas blend centuries-old character with contemporary comfort, featuring exposed beams, handcrafted furnishings and sweeping countryside views. Spacious interiors and peaceful surroundings make it easy to settle into the slower pace of life that defines the estate.
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is approximately two hours by car from Florence Airport and around two and a half hours from Rome. A car is recommended for exploring the Val d'Orcia, although many guests find everything they need within the estate itself.
Families are warmly welcomed, with dedicated activities for children alongside spacious villas that are ideal for multi-generational stays.
Join Brunello wine tastings, learn traditional Tuscan cooking, go truffle hunting, cycle or hike through the estate, enjoy falconry experiences or unwind at the Sense® Spa. Guests also have access to Italy's only private golf club. Our concierge can tailor every experience to your interests.
Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and the UNESCO-listed Val d'Orcia are all within easy reach, offering some of Tuscany's finest wine, food, history and scenery.
Castiglion del Bosco combines the careful preservation of an 800-year-old estate with responsible stewardship of its vineyards, woodland and farmland. Organic kitchen gardens, local sourcing and a long-term commitment to protecting the surrounding landscape ensure the estate remains deeply connected to its agricultural heritage.
