Overview
Tucked away in 740 acres of olive groves and vineyards, COMO Castello del Nero is a 12th-century castle in the heart of Chianti, between Florence and Siena. As you arrive, you'll wind along cypress-lined drives and watch the estate open up to beautiful gardens and gentle hills. Rooms and suites are spread across the castle and nearby buildings, so it always feels spacious. Calm is everywhere here, from the old stone walls that have settled into the landscape over centuries to the way sunlight fills each space, creating a feeling of complete escape into the Tuscan countryside.

    PLACE
    Chianti horizon

The estate sits on a ridge above Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees that stretch out in every direction. From the pool terrace, you can look out over the valley with nothing to interrupt the view. In the late afternoon, the light turns warm and golden, and you’ll feel the gentle pace of the place.

    RITUAL
    Shambhala in Tuscany

The spa’s thermal facilities are just the right size, creating a true sense of sanctuary. Treatments happen in softly lit rooms, and relaxation spaces look out onto the gardens and hillsides. The Shambhala philosophy of balance through breath, alignment and gentle touch fits perfectly with the slower, peaceful rhythm of the estate.

    MOVEMENT
    Morning in the gardens

Daily yoga sessions often take place outdoors when the weather is warm, with views over the vineyards that sweep down to the valley. There is also private instruction or Pilates if you like a bit more structure. All movement modalities focus on restoring your energy. It’s a lovely way to start the day, with a stretch at sunrise, and to keep a slower, more mindful pace as the morning unfolds.

    TABLE
    Estate dining

The food here is a real taste of Tuscany, with olive oil from the estate’s own groves, seasonal produce from the region and local wines. La Torre’s Michelin star is well deserved, but the dining experience is always relaxed and welcoming. Breakfast is often enjoyed in the courtyard, while dinner lingers under the stone arches, letting you savour every moment.

    Sleep
    Rooms

Rooms blend original features like timber beams, terracotta floors and fresco details with soft, modern fabrics and lovely garden views. Some suites open onto private terraces with views over the vineyards, while others look onto peaceful corners of the estate. At night, everything is quiet and still, giving you the perfect setting for a restful sleep.
