The Bathhouse draws on ancient Roman and Ottoman bathing traditions, with candlelit stone chambers, thermal rituals and a sense of deep calm that feels completely transporting. It’s a feeling that carries across the whole estate in the attention to detail, craftsmanship, quietness and unhurried pace that make everyday life here feel slower, softer and beautifully removed from the modern world.
The estate covers thousands of acres of rolling countryside, forests, and lakes near the Tuscan border. As you wander along winding roads and discover hidden paths, you’ll find quiet corners of nature that make the whole place feel expansive with a constant sense of discovery.
Interiors feel personal and curated, with custom furniture, vintage treasures, and beautiful textures everywhere you look. The restoration preserves the soul of the castle while creating spaces that feel warm, intimate and quietly cinematic, with every room carrying its own distinct character and sense of story.
Dining centres around seasonal produce, with olive oil, vegetables, herbs, and honey all sourced directly from Reschio’s own land. Meals are shared in atmospheric spaces, including the castle restaurant and the Palm Court, where candlelight, conversation and the slower pace of countryside life naturally draw evenings out long into the night.
Reschio is home to its own stable of beautifully trained purebred Spanish horses, long part of the estate’s identity. Rides take you through forests, wildflower meadows and hidden lakes across the vast Umbrian landscape. Experiencing the landscape on horseback feels incredibly special, as you move through the estate feeling completely immersed in nature.
Rooms and suites feel romantic, layered and deeply atmospheric, with antique details, aged woods and soft candlelit warmth throughout. Many overlook forests, courtyards or rolling countryside, creating a strong sense of retreat from the outside world.
Castello di Reschio is located in northern Umbria, close to the Tuscan border. The nearest airports are Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi Airport (about 1 hour), Florence Airport (about 2 hours), and Rome Fiumicino Airport (about 2.5–3 hours by car). Private transfers can be arranged.
Children are welcome at Castello di Reschio. Some accommodation categories are better suited to families, and babysitting can be arranged on request.
The Bathhouse is located in the castle’s old wine cellars and is inspired by Roman and Ottoman bathing traditions. It features thermal pools, a hammam, sauna, treatment rooms, and peaceful relaxation areas under vaulted stone ceilings.
Guests can explore the estate by horse riding, hiking, cycling, boating on the lake, joining cooking classes, or taking part in seasonal cultural events. There are also tennis courts, an outdoor pool, and well-kept woodland trails.
Much of the food served on the estate comes straight from Reschio’s own gardens, farms, and olive groves. The restoration of the castle and nearby buildings focused on traditional craftsmanship, local materials, and keeping the landscape’s original character.
Nearby places to visit include Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, Perugia, and the hill towns of Umbria and southern Tuscany. The area is famous for its vineyards, olive groves, local markets, and relaxed rural lifestyle.
Your stay is booked with Wellness Traveller. Cancellation and amendment terms vary depending on the room, rate and dates you choose. The terms that apply will be provided before you confirm your booking and detailed on your booking confirmation.
For refundable bookings, Wellness Traveller requires an additional 24 hours' notice before the hotel’s cancellation deadlines, allowing us time to process the cancellation on your behalf.
If your plans change, please email hello@wellnesstraveller.co, quoting your booking reference. Your cancellation will take effect from the date we receive your written request.
A £25 administration fee per booking applies where you ask us to make a change or cancellation, in addition to any cancellation charges that apply to your booking. This fee does not apply where you have a statutory right to cancel without charge.
