There is something very personal about Casa Fantini. Owner Daniela Fantini grew up with Lake Orta as part of family life, and the hotel feels like her way of sharing all she loves about it. You sense it in the garden cascading down to the water, the dining room made for lingering over long lunches and lake views, and experiences led by people who know the lake’s hidden corners. Daniela’s own idea of life on Lake Orta comes through beautifully: live close to the water, surround yourself with elegant design, eat well and take your time to enjoy the beauty of where you are.
Design has been part of the Fantini family story since 1947, when Daniela’s family founded their renowned bathroom design company here in Pella. That same eye for form, materials and craftsmanship runs through Casa Fantini. Local stone, warm wood and expanses of glass give the contemporary spaces a natural elegance, while generous windows and gardens draw your eye towards Lake Orta. The result feels refined and distinctly Italian, with every detail carefully considered.
Staying at Casa Fantini feels like being introduced to Lake Orta by people who know it well. The little village of Pella sits directly across the water from San Giulio island, and from here you can hop aboard a historic boat with an art historian to discover pastel-coloured villages, Baroque doorways, hidden gardens and stories along the shore. Forest bathing, meditative walks and cycling offer slower ways to explore, giving you time to notice the details that make this small lake so captivating.
Ristorante Fantini has the same sense of care you find throughout the house. Seasonal menus focus on a handful of beautifully chosen ingredients, drawing on small producers from Lake Orta and the surrounding Piedmont countryside. Local specialities, including mountain-cured ham from Val Vigezzo, sit alongside a thoughtful selection of regional wines. With tables overlooking the lake, the experience feels polished yet relaxed — good Italian food, beautifully served, while the light softens across Lake Orta.
Having a private hammam in every room makes wellbeing feel wonderfully personal. Steam and warmth can become part of an early morning or the end of a day on the lake, entirely on your own terms. Personalised treatments, massage and yoga bring expert care when you want it, while forest bathing and meditative walks take you back outside. It is a gentle approach that leaves plenty of room for simply following how you feel.
There are just nine rooms and two suites, all looking towards Lake Orta. Large windows, balconies and terraces bring water and light into the interiors, while natural materials and refined Italian design create spaces that feel warm and beautifully composed. The two spacious suites each occupy an entire floor of the original family house and feel like your own lakeside residence.
Casa Fantini is located in Pella on Lake Orta’s western shore, around one hour by car from Milan Malpensa Airport. Private transfers can be arranged, while a hire car is useful for exploring the wider Piedmont region.
Casa Fantini welcomes children, although its intimate scale and peaceful atmosphere make it particularly well suited to couples and adults looking for a relaxed lakeside stay. Family room options should be confirmed when booking.
