Overview

Something about the Tramuntana makes life feel spacious. Pilgrims, shepherds and travellers have long come here seeking perspective. Mountain roads wind between ancient olive groves, limestone peaks rise above valleys and views stretch out to the sea. On this privately hosted journey, local guide Anna Caldwell leads you beyond the well-known routes, exploring the mountains by bike and on foot, from quiet roads and ancient trails to the spiritual heart of Mallorca at Lluc Sanctuary. Here, movement, stillness and time in the mountains create the kind of space people have sought for centuries.

Ride
Beyond the main road

The journey begins on two wheels. Your guide, Anna, is a long-time resident, cyclist, yoga teacher, and meditation guide, who knows when to keep moving, when to stop, and where to linger. The route is about discovery, not distance, with hidden viewpoints and mountain villages appearing along the way.

Sanctuary
The mountains fall silent

Arrive at Lluc in the late afternoon, as the last visitors leave. As evening draws in, Lluc settles back into itself. Follow the old Rosary Path into the hills, past stone monuments created under Antoni Gaudí’s artistic guidance, while monastery bells ring across the valley. By nightfall, Lluc is a place of stillness and contemplation.

Dawn
Before the monastery awakes

Morning mist hangs between the oak trees and the first light begins to find its way through the surrounding mountains. A guided mindful walk through the woods replaces conversation with birdsong as the first bells sound from the sanctuary below. Enjoy the rare pleasure of having this ancient mountain landscape almost entirely to yourself.

Stillness
Space to simply be

For Anna, movement and stillness naturally belong together. Between time on the bike and trails, she might unroll the mats beneath the trees, lead a meditation overlooking the mountains or bring the day to a close with sound. Nothing elaborate. Just another way to stop, breathe and spend a little longer with the landscape around you.

Paths
Following the footsteps

The road gives way to ancient stone paths that have crossed these mountains for centuries. Once walked by pilgrims, shepherds and local communities, they wind between olive terraces, valleys and high passes, opening onto views rarely seen from the road. Out here, walking becomes less about reaching somewhere and more about the simple pleasure of following the path ahead.

Gather
From land-to-table

At a regenerative mountain farm, a long table is laid beneath ancient trees. Seasonal dishes, local cheeses, warm bread and olive oil from the surrounding groves are passed around with the people who grow and prepare them. As lunch unfolds, conversation drifts between the mountains, changing seasons and the simple pleasures of living close to the land.

Reflect
The space between

Empty mountain roads winding between ancient olive trees. The monastery after the last visitors have gone. Footsteps along old stone paths. Morning light across the mountains. Somewhere among them, life has begun to feel a little less crowded. The Tramuntana asks very little of you. It simply offers a little more space.
