Menorca rewards leaving a little space in your plans. A cove that beckons another swim. A walk with a view that stops you in your tracks. Lunch in a hamlet that barely features on the map. As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, much of the landscape that makes the island special has been carefully protected, from its coastline and wetlands to the farmland and countryside in between.
The Camí de Cavalls traces 185 kilometres around the island, following an old path through pine woods, fields, cliffs and beaches. Walk, cycle or explore on horseback, stopping when the sea looks too inviting to pass by. Elsewhere, days lend themselves to kayaking, snorkelling and swimming in clear, sheltered coves.
Wellness fits naturally into this slower way of spending time. Boutique retreats bring yoga, movement, mindfulness and creativity into the landscape, while beautiful rural stays make it easy to simply sleep well, eat local food and spend most of the day outside. Here, there’s always time for another swim, a longer walk or a change of plan.
