Mallorca has a wonderful way of changing the shape of the day. Start with a swim in a clear Mediterranean cove, head inland through olive groves and stone villages, or swap the sea for the galleries, markets and pavement tables of Palma. Nothing feels very far away, which leaves plenty of room for following whatever takes your fancy.
Then there are the Tramuntana mountains. Old paths wind between terraced olive groves, citrus orchards and villages such as Deià, Sóller and Valldemossa, through a landscape shaped by generations of people living and working with the land. Walk it, cycle it, or simply find a table in the shade and take in the view.
Wellness follows much the same spirit. You can give yourself over to an expert-led retreat, spend a few days focused on movement, nutrition or longevity, or retreat to one of the island’s beautiful spas. Or, leave the schedule behind and let sea swims, mountain walks, fresh food and long afternoons outside do their work. In Mallorca, every day has its own energy, and that’s part of the charm.
